Elders

Elders are responsible for the spiritual wellbeing of the church. This includes overseeing teaching, pastoral care, and overall direction.

Neil Todman – Elder & Pastor

Neil is currently the pastor at Philip Street Chapel in Bedminster. In total he has been a pastor for over twenty years, and before that he was a history teacher and lecturer working in several Bristol schools and universities in the region.

Alan Mann – Elder & Chair of Trustees

Alan is married to Laura with one young son and a dog. He has worked in the aeronautical industry in Bristol for nearly 30 years. He enjoys studying the Bible, and also likes science fiction, LEGO, and long walks with the dog.

Pete Foster – Elder

Pete is married to Jess and they have 3 daughters. He has lived in Bedminster since 2007 and is a self-employed engineer. He likes walking in the hills, watching telly on the sofa and at the age of 41 has recently discovered coffee.

Sam Pibworth – Elder & Trainee Pastor

Sam’s the trainee pastor at Philip Street. He’s married to Polly, and enjoys long walks, cricket, and spending an afternoon making a mess in the kitchen.

Deacons

Deacons are responsible for the operational side of the church, which inclides finances, compliance and our building.

David Channon – Deacon

David was born in Bristol, and is very much a Bristolian.
He works as a Sales Representative, selling sewing aids and craft products. He is happily married to Joan, and they have three grownup children, and five grandchildren.
He enjoys travelling to Australia to visit his eldest daughter and two grandchildren.

Huw Loosley – Deacon

Huw has attended Philip Street with his wife Debbie for over 20 years, moving to Bristol for work after finishing a degree in Computer Studies. Together they have 2 grown up children. When not involved in the work of the church Huw enjoys football, cycling and running.

Ian Page – Deacon & Treasurer

Ian works in Logistics, helping Pharma + Healthcare companies move their cargo around the world. He likes sport, history, board games and a good action TV series.

Kevin Thorne – Deacon

Kevin joined the Philip Street Chapel family at the start of 2024, with his wife Linda, They have lived in Bristol for 44 years and have 3 grownup children and 4 grandchildren. During his working life he has been a technical illustrator, computer programmer and an HGV driver but retired at the end of 2022. In his spare time he enjoys cycling, walking and playing squash. He also enjoys DIY and fixing things!

Laura Newton – Deacon

Laura moved to Bristol eight years ago with her husband James. She is studying with BCUK alongside work in education.
Laura is a keen runner. Her runs almost always finish with her other passions: coffee, cake and crossword puzzles! She also loves travel, especially to Scandinavia.

Vicki Baker – Deacon

Vicki moved from South Wales to Bristol in 2015 for her work as a surveyor. Vicki enjoys playing netball, attempting to surf and ski and spending time with friends and family.
